More power and handling improvements but it’s not all good news.

Today Nissan unveiled the 2024 Z NISMO along with all of its specifications. The new Z NISMO is now making 420 horsepower from its VR30DDTT 3.0L twin turbo V6, that is up 20 horsepower over the Sport and Performance models. Torque is up as well from 350 lb-ft to 384 lb-ft from 2,000 – 5,200 rpms. Power enhancements come from a combination of cooling, increased boost pressure as well as ignition timing that Nissan says was inspired by the GT-R NISMO. An enhanced engine oil cooler is also featured for extended track performance.

All of this sounds pretty good but lets get to the elephant in the room. The Z NISMO exclusively uses a nine-speed automatic transmission. Now Nissan says it has been enhance for faster and more dynamic shifting performance, with a focus for track use. Nissan went on further to explain these enhancements that include revised clutch packs and engine management software that allows for faster shifting and reduced downshift time by almost half, compared to the Z Performance trim. Nissan also says the launch control delivers a more aggressive acceleration.

Nissan says that NISMO has revised every element of the car’s suspension with a focus on precision, predictability and grip. This includes the use of unique stabilizer bars and larger dampers that have been returned. To also aid with the car’s handling the Z NISMO comes with 19-inch RAYS wheels with SP Sport Maxx GT600 tires, a version of which are also used on the GT-R. The rear tires are 285/35/R19, which is 10mm wider than those on the Z Performance trim.

As far as looks go the Z NISMO gets a new front fascia with a restyled grill. Attached to the new front fascia at the bottom are canards along with a red accent that runs along the front lip and continues around the whole car. Out back there is a taller and wider rear spoiler that is a three-piece design that extends onto the rear fenders. There is a revised rear bumpers as well as side sills that Nissan says reduce aerodynamic drag and lift.

The Z NISMO will go on sale later this year. No word on price yet, but it’s a safe bet that it will be more than the Z Proto Spec that starts at $53,990.
